Brook Yoder is a singer/guitarist born and raised in theWashington metropolitan area. Born in Georgetown and raised in Northern Virginia, Brook grew up in a family where every gathering was centered around music. His grandfather was a Georgetown Irish fiddler and tin whistle player, and his grandmother taught him his first song (The Wreck of The Old 97) when he was 4 years old. Brook was a member of the all male choir at St Thomas Moore school in Arlington and the choruses at Kenmore Jr. High and Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. While in high school, Brook sang with friends and began learning guitar while singing in bar bands doing Country, and Rock and Roll.
Marriage
and the birth of his two children followed soon after graduation in 1973 and Brook spent
the 70's singing in such local clubs as The Office, The Branding Iron, The Bratwursthaus,
The Green Dolphin, Whitey's and many others. His band, Fat Chance, lasted through the
early eighties, then evolved into a new band, Full Moon, after which he set out on his
own, playing at acoustic venues throughout the Washington area. Playing full time since
1987, Brook spent the 80's and 90's playing Old Town Alexandria venues such as The Seaport
Inn, The Fish Market, The Alamo, and the Santa Fe East.
Brook's
repertoire ranges from traditional Irish folk favorites, American folk and pop from the
50's to the present and almost anything you can name. Any performance is sure to
